About me

Calla was born in the 90s, in the middle of the night. She is still a night owl, with a growing coffee dependency.

Her childhood dream was to be a hairdresser. Or a lawyer. Archeologist. Mars explorer. Zebra trainer. Blame the early 00s movies. Even though she never got the chance to explore those careers, in her mind, she already tried all those professions and many more even before she reached the age of ten. Her vivid imagination took her to places no zebra, a whip, or a space shuttle ever could.

In her teenage and adult years, she had tried various professions, but none truly hit the right spot. The only thing that always kept her going was books. Since she turned the first pages of The Jungle Book, she never put her books down. Whether it was Sherlock Holmes, Isaac Asimov, Jules Verne, Tolkien, Sapkowski, or countless mangas and manwhas, she has never put her books down. But no genre has ever enchanted her as much as romance did. Except maybe fantasy.

The first idea of The Witch’s broken crown dates way back to her high school, scribbled on the side of a biology notebook. Since then, it has been forgotten and laid to rest until it was rediscovered about seven years ago (while browsing through old notes while preparing for a zoology exam at the university. I wish I paid more attention, ahem). Since finding that note again, it has stayed on her mind, until maybe three years back, when she decided to return to her true passion, and wrote bits and pieces, here and there, when the time allowed. The finalized book is the culmination of last year's effort, and attuning to her one and only calling (besides baking. If I am good at something besides writing, it’s baking).

Calla likes to bring joy to the lives of others. If her books won’t cheer you up, her baked goodies surely will. She collects her favorite recipes, and one day she wants to publish them in her own cookbook. Until then, she'll settle for writing about faraway lands full of magic.
